How to Play the Accordion: Know Your Parts
The piano accordion’s structure is very complex. The structure of the piano button accordion for sale is quite complex. There are three major external parts that you can see and several other important features. These are the vital valves, reeds, and valves that create the sounds. You can’t see the parts without taking apart the instrument. It is highly recommended that you do not use this box unless your are very familiar with the process.
You don’t have to know every part of an accordion before you start playing it. However, knowing a bit about its structure is important to ensure that you take care of it properly when you get older.
The main components of the piano accordion have three parts:
The treble key is on the right hand side when the instrument is held. The size of the accordion will impact the number and arrangement of keys. The instrument’s size will determine how many keys it has and the extent to which you can play more tunes.
You will hold your accordion on the left and the Bass keyboard is on its right. It contains a variety of buttons, arranged in rows according the notes families. Each button can play a specific chord or bass when it’s pressed. You will notice that several buttons have a rough texture mark or an area raised when you drag your fingers along them. This is so you can easily locate the appropriate buttons and help you to be oriented when you are playing.
The Bellows are the part at the middle of the accordion. It is sometimes called the “heart”. The bellows play a vital role. They move air through the instruments’ reeds. It is vital that bellows do not become brittle or too stressed. To keep the bellows from opening, there will be one to two special straps attached to the accordion. You should make sure that the straps are secure when you aren’t using them.
Additional important parts:
Shoulder Straps. All accordions have two straps which loop over your shoulders and allow you to hold the instrument close. You can’t play the instrument if you don’t have them.
The third strap connects to the back of the two shoulder straps. It helps to ensure that the straps are in the correct place on your shoulders. You should use the middle band if your accordion is large. This helps to evenly distribute the weight. You may have to buy an extra strap.
Air button: This button is typically located on the left side of the bottom button board. You can press the button to open a valve which allows the bellows of the system to operate without sending any air through the reeds. This is very important if the bellows need to be opened or closed without making any noise.
Reeds: The Reeds are located inside the accordion. They are held at one end while they vibrate at the opposite end. The accordion makes sounds when the bellows are pushed and air is forced through the reels. It vibrates. You can make different chords and notes by forcing air through different combinations of the reeds.
Couplers: There are a few extra larger keys or buttons located just above the keyboard. These keys or buttons change the sound quality and affect the choice of reeds.
It is not necessary to be able to identify all parts of an accordion when you are learning how to accordion. As you get more familiar with your instrument, you might want to study more.
